For some people who are just starting to learn SEO, maybe this question is often heard, when should I make a backlink to my website. If I am asked like that, my answer is to wait for the website to be stable.
This is more often experienced by fresh domains. Logic for a new website will look unnatural if you suddenly have a vote link from another web without certain factors.
What I mean here is popularity and also Traffic. Of course it will be a big question mark for Google why there is a website that provides Vote Links (backlinks) to a website that is unpopular and does not have traffic to the site. And Google can quickly draw this conclusion is link manipulation.
Here are some info you need to know:
Google knows exactly how many visitors enter your website. Google can also calculate roughly the Bounce Rate of your website pages. Thus Google can easily calculate and see if there are manipulations of links and fake social signals that you do.
I mean here, if our website has a high Bounce Rate (in this case a percentage) then this means that the content or content on the website is not attractive to your visitors.
Content that is not attractive to visitors is very contradictory if they do Share Social Signals let alone Provide backlinks for your site.
Try to imagine when you enter a page that has unattractive content, do you want to press the Share button?
Second, Google can see it through the Visitor who enters your site. Google has a massive range of data that can predict roughly how many reasonable backlinks a website has based on the number of visitors who enter. This means that every addition of a backlink or social signal should always be accompanied by an increase in the number of visitors. Therefore, for fresh domains, it is a little cautious in building backlinks and social signals, Google can easily identify link manipulations that enter our site based on the above factors. This is also the reason why many new websites are often in the sandbox when they do backlinks.
For those of you who are still fresh domain status there are some tips that you can do:
Post as many unique articles as possible to the niche of your website. This can avoid Penalty from one of the factors that are targeted by Algo Panda, namely "Duplicate Content" and also "Thin Content".
Love social signal (real human / real social engagement) into your website. To branding web pages to be more popular and can also be an alternative source of your initial traffic. Do it naturally if you can dripfeed for 30 days. 3-5 social signals per day is enough compared to building 100 social signals in a day, and the next day there is no activity.
Internal linking optimization (like related post, Silo) and useful and interesting articles to minimize Bounce rate.
For those of you who already have a domain that is stable enough, you still have to be careful when doing aggressive backlinks. The way you notice the effects that arise every time there is a Google Algo update (although minor updates) if your web does not get any effect. Then the web can be said to be stable.
