Circumcision is one of the things suggested in Islam. The law of circumcision for men is compulsory, while for women is the sunnah.
Based on the words of the Prophet Shallallahu'alaihi Wasallam:
الفطرة خمس -يعني السنة خمس- الختان والاستحداد وقلم الأظافر وقص الشارب ونتف الإبط
"The five sunnah of fitrah are circumcision (circumcision), istihdad (shaving pubic hair), cutting the nails, shaving the shingles, and pulling the armpit hair" (Narrated by Bukhari 5889, Muslim 257)
Imam Ibn al-Qayyim rahimahullah explained, "Fitrah is of two types. First is the nature related to the heart, namely ma'rifatullah (knowing God) and loving Him and giving priority to Him more than anything other than Him.
The second is fitrah amaliyyah, which is the nature mentioned in the hadith above. The first type of fitrah purifies the soul and cleanses the heart while the second nature purifies the body.
Both of them support and strengthen each other. The main and main thing of the body's nature is circumcision "
Imam Ibn Qudamah rahimahullah said, "The legal circumcision is obligatory for men, and is a glory for women but the law is not mandatory. This is the opinion of the majority of scholars.
Circumcision itself has been carried out since Prophet Ibrahim and we were ordered by Allah SWT to follow the teachings of Prophet Ibrahim.
Narrated from the friend of Abu Hurairah radhiyallahu ‘anhu that the Prophet sallallaahu‘ alaihi wa sallam said:
إِخْتَتَنَ إِبْرَاهِيْمُ خَلِيْلُ الرَّحْمَنِ بَعْدَ ماَ أَتَتْ عَلَيْهِ ثَمَانُوْنَ سَنَةً
"Prophet Ibrahim Khalilur Rahman circumcised after the age of eighty" (H.R Bukhari 6298 and Muslim 370).
Allah Ta'ala instructs us to follow the teachings of Prophet Ibrahim which are seen in His words:
ثُمَّ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ أَنِ اتَّبِعْ مِلَّةَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَنِيفاً وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ
"Then We revealed to you (Muhammad):" Follow the religion of Abraham a hanif "and he is not among those who associate partners with Allah." (An Nahl: 123)
From Jabir radhiyallahu ‘anhu, he said," The Prophet sallallaahu aih alaihi wa sallam mengaqiqah Hasan and Husayn and circumcised them both on the seventh day (after birth, -pen). "(Narrated by Ath Thabrani in Ash Shogir)
Ibn ‘Abbas radhiyallahu‘ anhuma said, "There are seven sunnah for babies on the seventh day, namely: giving names, circumcision, ..." (Narrated by Ath Thabrani in Al Ausath)
An-Nawawi said,
يستحب للولي أن يختن الصغير في صغره ؛ لأنه أرفق به
It is recommended for the guardian to circumcise his child when he is a child, because that is the best for him. (al-Majmu ', 1: 302)
In Islamic teachings, circumcision or circumcision is recommended when done as a baby or small, but what is the law if circumcision is done when it is an adult?
For adults who have not been circumcised, circumcision remains mandatory. This is because circumcision is related to being allowed to perform various services such as prayer.
Likewise with those converts who have just embraced Islam when they were adults, they are also obliged to do circumcision or circumcision so that their worship is valid.
He sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said to someone who converted to Islam:
أَلْقِ عَنْكَ شَعْرَ الْكُفْرِ وَاخْتَتِنْ
"Dispose of your hair of kufr and circumcision." (H.R Abu Dawud 356, celebrated by Syaikh Al Albani in Al Irwa’79)
Sheikh Abdullah al-Jibrin said,
فإن من شروط الصلاة الطهارة ، ولا تتم لا بالختان ، فيستحب أن لا يؤخر عن وقت الاستحباب. أما وقت الوجوب فهو البلوغ والتكليف. فيجب على من لم يختتن أن يبادر إليه عند البلوغ
Among the conditions of prayer is holy from unclean. And this cannot be done except with circumcision. Because it is recommended not to be postponed after the recommended time.
The mandatory time is after baligh and has gained the burden of Shari'a. Required for people who have not been circumcised after baligh for immediate circumcision.
Imam an-Nawawi also affirms the same,
أَنَّهُ لَا يَجِبُ الْخِتَانُ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ فَإِذَا بَلَغَ وَجَبَ عَلَى الْفَوْرِ
"Circumcision is not mandatory except after baligh. If you have baligh, he must immediately circumcise. "(Al-Majmu ', 1: 304).
Therefore, for Muslims who have grown up but have not carried out circumcision, they should immediately carry out circumcision so they can immediately carry out worship.
And try as much as possible to cover the genitals and only the parts of the genitals that need to be treated are visible. Even then it should only be for people who do circumcision or cutting.
Circumcision is an obligation for Muslim men, should immediately implement as instructed by Allah.
Allah Ta'ala said:
وإذ ابتلى إبراهيم ربه بكلمات فأتمهن قال إني جاعلك للناس إماما قال ومن ذريتي قال لا ينال عهدي الظالمين
"And (remember), when Abraham tested his Rabb with a few sentences (orders and prohibitions), then Abraham fulfilled it. Allah says:
"Surely I will make you a priest for all humans". Ibrahim said: "(And I beg too) of my descendants".
Allah said: "My promise (this) is not concerning those who do wrong." (Surah Al-Baqarah: 124)
